Anyone else have a MIL that is politically charged this election year and wont shut the hell up?
My MIL is a conservative republican, obviously a McCain supporter. My husband and I are democrats and going for Obama. We never discuss politics with family. My MIL however has started arguments with my husband …saying she’s “afraid” of Obama for very typically ignorant reasons – he’s muslim, he hates america, he’s racist, black people are only voting for him because he’s black, blah blah blah. Anyone else having issues like this – republican or democrat MIL driving you crazy? It’s not about who is voting for who in my eyes, it’s just a matter of respect – you don’t try to talk adults out of who they’re voting for and make them feel stupid for who they want to vote for. We could care less that she wants to support McCain, that is her right. But we don’t ever argue with her.
My problem isn’t with my family or MIL or anything, it’s actually with my friends! Some of my friends are Dem’s, and some are republicans.
I’m for Obama, but I’m not insane about it. I do care about politics more then the average 20-something, but I campaign/doorbell for local elections, not national ones.
A few of my friends are insanely on either side of the spectrum. And they all drive me nuts. Constantly sending out emails smashing the other side, and especially my friends who support McCain.
