Complications after appendectomy – are these normal?
My friend had an emergency appendectomy Wednesday night because of a perforated appendix. Since the surgery he has developed moisture in the left lung, painful jaw, some vomiting, a fever that fluctuates between 99 and 102, swollen legs, arms, feet, ankles, and other parts, headaches, and his breathing sound labored. He is still in the hospital and since I am not where he is to ask the doctor questions, I am depending on those who have been through a similar situation or knows about this situation could respond.

This is not normal. Sounds like he has residual infection. Most likely cause is an intraabdominal abscess related to his burst appendix. A CAT scan may help determine if one is there.
