Metformin and Poly cystic ovaries?!!?
I was diagnosed with poly cystic(did i spell it right?;p) ovaries and I am gonna go on metformin…
The doctor said It will fix my menstrual cycle that had been really messy for 2 years, that my skin will clear out, some hairs will disappear and that I will lose some weight..
Is all that true or should I go to another doctor?
Btw I am 15 
How often should I take this pill or whatever it is and will I ever be ok again?
How long will it take to see change on my body weight and menstrual cycle?
Anything else you know?
Is it a real torture to go through? I am really worried please help xoxo
I am on Metformin for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) too. I have only been on a little more than a month, but I do see some differences, although small. I started a period, which I hadn’t had in two years. My acne is clearing, but only a little. Some hairs are thinning, but, again, just a little. I have not noticed any weight loss yet, but as I said, I have only been on it a little over a month.
If you are having issues with how to take the medication, you really need to call your doctor or pharmacy. I take mine once a day, and you’re to take it with food. But your dose may be different, please don’t just go by my dosage example – call your doctor.
As far as any torturous feelings, no, I personally have not had any bad times on the Metformin. However, the nasty side effects of the PCOS itself have been very upsetting, the weight gain, the acne, the facial hair, the other nasty little things it causes. Right now I am just hoping that the Metformin will end up really helping as the months go by.
