Is it Safe to hang Punching bag on wooden Beams in Basement?
I’m thinking about getting a 100LBS bag to beat up.
I don’t want to buy one of those stands, because space is limited, so
i’m planning on getting a 4 piece screw-in and metal mount to hang it up on wooden beams in my basement?
Is it safe? will it cause my house to collapse?
It’s safe. The mounting kit you have will most likely be using lag screws. Just make sure the lag screws are centered on the beam and not off center. The beam is a 2×4 I’m guessing, understand that’s not an extremely wide beam. If the lag screws are anchored close to the edge of the beam it’s possible for the lag screws to rip out of the beam after some punching. That’s not a big deal outside it being a pain since you have to hang the bag up again and parts of the mounting kit tend to fly across the room and roll underneath stuff like shelving. Happened to me once before.
